SecurIT announces General Availability of RoleManager™ 1.3 for IBM Tivoli Identity Manager

SecurIT announces General Availability of RoleManager 1.3. The successor of R-Man 1.2 is a significant step forward offering real Business-oriented Role Modeling and Role Assignment, while seamlessly integrated into IBM’s Identity Management platform.
 
Gent, Belgium, October 5, 2007 – Today SecurIT launched the next version of its RoleManager plug-in for IBM Tivoli Identity Manager (ITIM), offering ITIM customers a very powerful solution to manage Users and their entitlements from a Business perspective.
Organizations embrace Identity Management as a way to control Users and their Profiles across platforms in order to cope with increasing Security compliance requirements, decrease administration costs and provide a more transparent user experience in accessing various systems and services. Role Based Access Control (RBAC) offers an additional layer to manage and automate access control to resources.
RBAC has been around for some time and RoleManager 1.2 customers today enjoy the benefits of its ANSI/NIST compliant Hierarchical Role Model. The new version takes this a tremendous step further with valuable new functions, such as:
 
  • A multi-level and meshed Role Model, allowing a cost-effective and Business-oriented approach for managing User Entitlements;
  • Handling Separation of Duties in order to manage conflicts of interest;
  • Introduce Role Attributes, like Role Owner, Role Assignment Approver and Role Type, to apply a policy-driven delegation model closely linked to the organizational structure and/or Business requirements;
  • Offer the possibility for users to move smoothly to other responsibilities via temporary role assignments, including fading out from previously assigned roles.
  • Enhanced Role Foundation Modeler, which uses ITIM reconciliation to retrieve authorization groups from target systems and automate the creation of the Role Model foundation layer.

RoleManager 1.3 for ITIM 4.6 is available for Windows, Linux and AIX. Support for Sun Solaris will be available at a later stage.
