SecurIT announces new Web Services API for RoleManager™

Gent, March 18, 2008 –Identity and Role management processes need to interoperate with third-party systems within an organization for full value to be realized. To address this, in addition to RoleManager’s seamless integration into the ITIM Native GUI, RoleManager now also exposes its functions via two programmatic interfaces: a Web Service interface, and Java APIs.

These API’s allow customers and system integrators to easily build custom user interfaces or process the native RBAC role model created by RoleManager.

Typical uses cases include:
· Use of RoleManager functionalities on corporate Web portals.
· Integration of RoleManager functionalities with ERP applications.
· Creation of customized approval workflows for Roles.
· Integration with external Role Engineering/mining & Compliance tools

The JAVA API’s permit calling all the RoleManager public methods, allowing easy local access to the role model on the ITIM platform where RoleManager is running.

The WS API’s allows Identity Management to be deployed as a Web Service, providing a standards-based, centrally deployed and managed method for programmatically initiating role management actions. This further facilitates the broad rollout of Identity Management services with minimal impact on applications and the developers that build and maintain them.
Subsequent versions of the RoleManager Web Service API will expose some native ITIM Identity Management functions as well, to facilitate any kind of User Interface customizations, like business-oriented approvals interfaces.

RoleManager API’s initial release is scheduled for general availability in Q2, 2008. An Early Support version is available with RoleManager 1.3.5, which became GA on March 15th. The new release offers full compliance with ITIM 5.0 and the new API further positions the combination of ITIM 5.0 with RoleManager as the most comprehensive, business oriented Identity Management solution on the market, accelerating and simplifying set-up and deployment, and enhancing the productivity of identity management business users and IT administrators.

RoleManager API is available as part of the RoleManager standard software package.
